Mr. Azar Iqbal

Bio

Mr. Azar Iqbal practices in public law, human rights law and criminal law. He was Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn as a Barrister in 2005 and subsequently qualified as a Solicitor Advocate. He is one of the North's leading lawyers in immigration law.

Mr. Iqbal offers advice and representation in complex asylum, deportation, entry clearance, Points based system, nationality and European Law matters. He has successfully represented many clients at the First-Tier and in the Upper Tribu-nals of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.

A substantial part of his practice involves judicial review, including injunctive re-lief of administrative decisions such as unlawful detention, refusal of fresh claims and removal decisions. He is also an expert in the highly niche area of surrogacy law.

Mr. Iqbal also has particular expertise in criminal defence and can be instructed on a variety of matters including driving offences, curtailment of liberty, taxi li-censing appeals, money laundering cases and advice and representation on the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) judgments.

He is a keen cricketer and enjoys trekking. Mr Iqbal has developed a deep in-terest in learning about history. He is an active community member and is regu-larly invited by local community organisations and local media for speeches.
